4 melons, 1/2 lb. acacia honey, 4 green lemons, 1 bunch mint
Preparation Instructions
Grate the green lemon peels. Reserve the lemon juice in a bowl. Blanch the peels. Bring juice to a boil. Reduce. Add acacia honey. Reduce. Continue cooking until the mixture is similar to liquor in consistency. Store cold. In the meantime, cut the melons in half. Peel and cut into thin slices. In a concave dish, arrange these slices in the shape of a flower. Cover with the cold mixture and sprinkle with lemon peels. Finally, add some minced mint.

Melons are in the same gourd family as squashes and cucumbers. Most melons are similar in appearance to winter squash. Both groups have thick flesh and an inner seed-filled midsection. The main difference between melons and squashes is in the way that they are used. Squashes are consumed as vegetables while melons are Consumed as fruits due to their much sweeter, juicy flavor.


The health benefits of water melon include kidney disorders, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart care, heat stroke, macular degeneration, impotence, etc. Water Melon contains a lot of potassium, which is very helpful in cleaning or washing off the toxic depositions in the kidneys. Moreover, it is helpful in reducing concentration of uric acid in the blood, thereby reducing the chances of kidney damages and formation of renal calculi in it. Added to these, being high in water content, it induces frequent urinating, which is again helpful for cleaning of kidneys. Also, the anti oxidants present in ensure good health of kidneys for a long. A good amount of Potassium and magnesium, present in water melons, are very good in bringing down the blood pressure. Melon is one of my favorite fruits and I always make some trials on it when I made a dessert. It was by chance when I saw this recipe and I did it with no modifications. Gladly it turned out well and now it’s one of the most requested dessert recipe in my family.

The combination of the green lemon and the melons did not really work well for me. The lemon was quite bitter even if I blanched it. The melon also had a bitter aftertaste which I did not enjoy.

I prefer a Lemon Glazed recipe than this, it is much tastier and the flavor blends well. Melon has a slight bitter taste when it is exposed to the air for a long time.

First, let me just say this, this recipe can just be very well defined with: W-O-W! It’s basically the only recipe that has made me taste a very positively complicated taste of a melon recipe. I can’t think of anything changeable in this since each of the ingredients, in accordance to their processes, blended in an ultimate level. I’m proud to have made this for a number of times for some parties and even for some of our ordinary days at home.

I didn’t know that melon can be glazed, all I know is that only lemon can be glazed. This dish is so seductive that I would extremely want to try for the picnic next weekend. Hope me luck that I would be able to make it as exactly as this.
