Steak Kebabs with Vegetables

1 1/2 lbs. beef sirloin cubes

1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce

1/4 cup rice wine

2 tbsp. granulated sugar

2 large cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp. sesame oil

12 small white onions

12 large mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed

3 large bell peppers, assorted colors, cut into large squares

12 skewers

Preparation Instructions

Place meat cubes in a mixing bowl.

In a separate small bowl, mix together soy sauce, wine, sugar, garlic and oil, whisking until the sugar has dissolved.

Pour mixture over meat cubes and toss lightly to coat. Cover meat and chill 8-10 hours to marinate.

When about ready to grill, cook onions in boiling water just long enough to make them barely tender, approx. 3-5 minutes. Drain, rinse with cold water to cool, and remove skins.

Drain marinade from meat and reserve.

Skewer meat and vegetables, alternating them on the skewers. Brush them lightly with oil and place on preheated grill.

Grill until done, basting occasionally with reserved sauce, about 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, longer for well-done.
